Do you know who God is in your life?
This truth has been on my heart lately, and I want to share a short devotional with you today — a reminder that His love came first and He is eager to be in relationship with us.

As I was playing with my 3 month old daughter the other day, I was meditating on the thought that I love this child so much that i’d give my entire life for her.
Yet, I do not really know her. I do not know what choices she is more or less likely to make, I do not know what tempts her; what her strengths or weaknesses are.
Furthermore, she has no idea who I am to her; She does not know how I love, provide, or sacrifice for her — yet she would never make it without my care, protection, or provision.
This is exactly what our relationship with God looks like. Before we chose to be in fellowship with Him, He already loved, cared, provided, and protected us like a perfect Father.
How much more special is our relationship when we choose to let God in and communicate with Him daily? As we grow in friendship with Christ, He knows us better, and we, in turn, can better know what He desires for our lives.
Scripture Reference
“Like newborn infants, long for the pure spiritual milk, that by it you may grow up into salvation— 3 if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is good.” — 1 Peter 2:2-3
Reflection
Before we ever chose Him, God chose us. Before we ever knew how, He was already providing, protecting, and sacrificing for our sake.
Take a moment to remember today: your story with God didn’t begin with your “yes.” It began with His love for you and deepens everyday you say yes to His Word.
Today’s Prayer
Lord, thank You for loving me before I ever knew You. Thank you for walking beside me and though I did not know you or how to live for you, thank you for your mercy and grace in that season. Thank you God for leading me to your loving and forgiving arms.
Help me to rest in your love, and to love others the way I have been loved by you–to show the love, mercy, grace, and forgiveness despite how they may feel about me.
Help me have a heart that’s more like yours and to love expecting nothing in return, only hoping to grow in deeper spiritual relationship to those around me so we may lift one another up.

Takeaway
- Think back to a time before you knew Christ, how did He protect, provide, or walk beside you through that situation?
- If you haven’t been consistently communicating with Jesus — through prayer or His Word — how might your relationship with Him change if you started today?
