Easy and quick dinner rolls recipe with perfect brown tops and soft inside! Can be a no egg dinner rolls recipe. Just skip the egg wash.
Prep Time 5 minutes
Cook Time 15 minutes
Rise time 30 minutes
Total Time 50 minutes
Servings: 12 Rolls

Ingredients

  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 tbs melted butter
  • 2 tbs honey
  • 1 tbs active dry yeast
  • 3 1/2- 4 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 egg optional- for egg wash

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees and grease a 9 by 13 baking dish, set to the side.
  2. Combine milk and water in a microwave safe bowl, and warm to 110 degrees.
  3. Add in butter, honey, and active dry yeast. Set aside for 10 min or until bubbly.
  4. In a stand mixer, mix 3 1/2 cups of flour and salt with a dough hook.
  5. Slowly add the wet ingredient mixture. If the dough is too wet, add the rest of the flour one tbsp at a time until the dough is smooth.
  6. Shape dough into a ball and place in a greased bowl to rise for 15 minutes.
  7. Punch dough down, divide into 12 equal sizes, and place into your greased baking dish.
  8. Cover with a damp towel.
  9. Set in a warm place to rise for another 25-30 min or until doubled in size.
  10. For egg wash - In a small bowl, beat one egg and brush over the tops of your rolls after second rise, but before baking.
  11. Bake for 15-20 min or until lightly brown on top.
  12. Let cool (if you can resist) and enjoy!

Notes

    • In the past, I have added the butter to my milk and water mixture. As I warm the milk and water, the butter melts! Saves even more time.
    • To divide dough, roll into a rectangle, divide into 3, then half each section. Half each one of those again to get 12 pieces of dough, then shape into balls.
    • Although the egg wash is optional, I highly recommend.
